Meet The Team

Syed Muaz Shah is a lawyer and legal academic with nearly 2 decades of experience in law starting as a paralegal in the US. He is a well-versed expert in Islamic Law and Human Rights teaching those subjects at university level for the past 5 years. He is an accredited mediator associated with many organisation as a panelled as an ADR expert, promoting mediation and re-conciliation techniques. He co-founded the Ziauddin University law program as the Director for the Centre for Human Rights where he focused on advocacy, training, and awareness on various human rights issues particularly prisoner rights, child and women rights working with INGOs and local partners. He recently founded a research think-tank called the Centre for Islamic Law & Human Rights (CILHR) trying to bridge a constructive understanding between Islamic legal provisions that support the human rights regime providing consultancy to the government and NGOs. Currently he serves as the Legal Co-ordinator at the transnational OIC affiliated body called the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture (ICCIA) where he is working on promoting ADR through the OIC – Arbitration Centre and revival of waqf charitable sustainable models focused around combating climate change in the Green Waqf Initiative.
