Terms like Mithaq and Ahd Allah underscore the Quran’s emphasis on honoring contracts in all aspects of life, from trade to employment, commercial transactions to informal commitments, and all other areas. Believers are also obligated to respect societal laws and international treaties, provided they align with Quranic principles, as these stem from modern contract jurisprudence, thus falling under the covenantal paradigm. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upheld treaties with both believers and non-believers alike, exemplifying fairness and integrity.
QCRC intends to undertake work focused on understanding the Quranic covenants while drawing parallels with modern contract and contemporary legal terminology. Since the Quran’s legal framework is covenant-based, specialized work is required to highlight this aspect. The Quran instructs followers how to draft covenants and contracts. The Sender of the Holy Book makes upholding contracts an integral part of the faith, in addition to the recognized elements of belief and rituals.
